Lot 102 1923 Complete Unused Enveloped Set of 12 Water Color Cards
This rare and desirable set of Water Color Cards was sold in 1923 by the Ideal School Supply Company of Chicago, Illinois. This complete set consists of twelve post cards with an Art Deco feel that the end-user would watercolor using the extant Suggestions for Coloring card. Everything was sold in an envelope which, although in poorish condition, is extant. The art was done by Marion T. “Penny” Ross, an illustrator, comic artist and an early coworker with Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks when they were struggling in Chicago. Penny Ross created an early syndicated comic strip, Mamma’s Angel Child. The cards measure ~6” by ~3.75”. They are unused. This set is exceedingly rare. The only other one I’ve ever seen sold on eBay in September of 2024 for nearly $600.
