Lot 18                Cellowax JOL Candle with Box
This exceedingly rare box that still contains its original JOL candle complete with its star-shaped black paper bottom measures ~3” on all sides. (A tidy cube…) The candle measures ~2.25” high. The true "get" here is the Cellowax box with its fantastic graphics. The image of the JOL-headed skeletons dancing around a witch at her cauldron on the front panel evokes a smile and a shudder! Don’t forget to check out the two side panels. Produced during the late 1940s, you see the candle often but not the box. The candle is in near-mint condition. The box has wear throughout. The two top flaps are extant but have detached. There is a tear to the right side of the flap beginning at the E in LANTERN. I am excited to offer this in my auction, as it is only the third time in 36 years of collecting that I’ve seen the box.
