Lot 42 Late 1940s German Plaster Goblin Figural
After WWII, the Germans produced a small number of their older designs in plaster rather than composition. This didn’t last more than a season or two. I feel this item was produced circa 1948-1949. The ghost or goblin measures ~4” high by ~2.25” across. Plaster is a fragile medium and one that doesn’t lend itself to as smooth a finish as composition. You can see this reality at places on the goblin. Again, this isn’t a condition issue, merely an artifact of the chosen medium. Perhaps counterintuitively, this form of the goblin figural is actually quite a bit rarer than ones made with composition.
