Lot 70                  1920s Unused Set of Eight Tallies
This unusual set of eight unused tallies was produced by a manufacturer unknown to me. The approach the artist took was cartoony rather than serious. (Just look at those faces.) The verbiage emphasizes the game being played – probably bridge. Given the orange and black coloration and the scattered crescent moons and stars, there is no doubt these were created for the Halloween season. Each tally measures ~4” high by ~2” across. Prior to their acquisition, I had never seen these tallies before.
